My good and right thoughts are a reflection of my Teachers' Wisdom - Aamir

I have always believed that majority of the people in the west are decent and tolerant. They respect others' religious sentiments and sensitivities. This belief is based on my personal experiences and encounters. For example, when last year, a Florida based Pastor, Terry Jones, planned to burn the holy book of Muslims, i was told by one of my friends in Florida that many non-Muslims protested against him and condemned his act. She told me that non-Muslims even joined Muslims to sell the copies of Qur'an. They also joined an event page on Facebook, with the name 'Commit to reading the Qur'an for an hour'. I am quite sure that these tolerant and wise individuals from the west will again condemn the recent acts of mockery against Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).
The minority in the west, which does not understand and respect these religious sensitivities, needs to understand that Muslims hold respect & love for all the prophets, especially Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), more than anyone, more than even their parents. Mocking the Prophet of Islam (pbuh) will only provoke outrage in Muslims and will disturb the world peace. The reaction from Muslims will always be emotional because of their association with their Prophet (pbuh). Hence, committing such acts, even after knowing the consequences, will definitely be perceived as devilry and equivalent to intentionally creating mischief in the land. I pray for the ignorance of such individuals.
To avoid such situations in the future, the western governments and United Nations should enforce laws to protect the dignity of all the personalities, perceived as holy and honorable by religious groups. Every Muslim considers Prophet's dignity as his / her own dignity. West should realize that affronting to one's dignity is as much a crime as hurting someone physically. Western governments should realize that mocking religious personalities is a dangerous trend, which is detrimental to world peace and making laws to condemn such a trend is a need of the hour. Such initiatives by the UN and western governments will be hailed by the Muslim world and the widening gaps between the Muslim world and the west will decrease.
At the same time, Muslims should understand that protesting is their right but in any case it should not go out of hand. God has ordained them to stay upright and just in any kind of circumstances. Killing innocents, breaking and burning the public properties is definitely against the moral limits and manners taught by Islam. Not adhering to these ethical limits, while protesting, only make their case weaker in front of the world. They should remember that their every action should reflect that they are the followers of a Prophet who once said, that 'I have been sent to perfect manners'.
Today, religion has became more sensitive issue than ever and every reasonable person should be careful and sensitive towards the religious beliefs of others. Lets respect others and their beliefs to gain respect and to co-exist.
Wherever you are be a source of comfort and joy to others. God bless you

DeleteThis is a comment by an American citizen. It is shared with me by my friend Mubashir Rehman. Mubashir made a comment on the video which insulted the Prophet of Islam. In Response this is the response from a person from US: It is lengthy but worth reading:
ReplyDeletePart 1:
I'm not sure which of my comments you were responding to. The comments are flooding that page so quickly that I can't find it. Thank you for your response, though. It is always nice to find someone attempting to be reasonable in the middle of such turmoil. Your comment does highlight what I think is an important part of why people in the U.S. and elsewhere have a difficult time understanding each other on this issue. You said "Such movies or any other such acts by anyone should not be allowed." This seems like a simple solution, but in this country it is not. It is difficult to understand why without understanding the history of how our country and laws were created. Many of the people who founded our country were Christians. Christians believe that Jesus was killed for saying things that were unpopular. The Roman government and many others tried to silence him and eventually killed him because of things he said. The people who established the U.S. government also believed in things that were unpopular at first. They ultimately went to war against England to defend these unpopular ideas and ended up winning. In setting up a new government, they recognized that if they hadn't had the courage to say unpopular things, they wouldn't have escaped English rule. Throughout history, the people who have made the biggest improvements to the world and to their countries were at first regarded as crazy or troublemakers. People tried to silence most of them. Many of them were even killed. The first person who said the world was round, the first person who said we could fly, and the first person who said we could walk on the moon were all considered crazy at first. They turned out to be right, though. I don't know the whole history of Islam, but I know that people tried to silence Muhammad. He and early Muslims were attacked for teaching things that other people at the time did not like. If people or a government had been able to silence him or imprison him, he would not have been able to deliver his message. To get his message across, he had to say things that angered people. If his message weren't unpopular and hadn't changed the people around him, he wouldn't be so important. In writing the U.S. Constitution, the founders realized that all new ideas are unpopular at first. They understood that most important figures in history were told to sit down and be quiet before people finally began to listen to their messages. Because of this, the first thing the founders added to the Constitution was that the government was not allowed to tell people what to believe or to silence them because others didn't like what they had to say. The founders of this country believed that in order to protect great people from being silenced, they also had to protect bad people and stupid people from being silenced. As citizens of the U.S. we are taught that to find people with great ideas, we sometimes have to listen to people with very bad ideas. We believe that in order to make new discoveries, we have to sometimes listen to people claiming things that are hurtful or wrong. We're used to hearing stupid people and bad people voice their ideas and opinions. These ideas and opinions may make us think for a minute, but we quickly disregard them and move on to something else. We know that over time the good ideas will last and the bad ideas will be forgotten. Because everyone here is free to say almost anything, we've become accustomed to ignoring a lot of things we hear. We have a hard time understanding why other people do not find it so easy to ignore offensive things, as we do it all the time in our country. People in other countries have a difficult time understanding why we don't simply silence offensive people.

DeleteIt is not something we are in the habit of doing or that we believe is necessary. We understand that sometimes people are going to insult someone else's beliefs but we deeply believe that people can be strong enough to ignore such insults and to take the right path. The man who made this film is an evil person and we are outraged by what he has said about your beliefs. Our news agencies are busy trying to track him down so they can expose him as a fraud and a liar. Our way of thinking is that if we show that his film is a lie and that he is not who he claims to be, this is sufficient to fix the harm that he has done. People will shun him and accept that he is just another fool trying to create war when there should be peace. Please accept my apologies for the offense you feel at this film. We are a nation of many voices, and this film does not speak for most of us. There are some here who want to blame Islam for the problems of the world. These people get more attention than they should. Violence and crazy people are what we hear about all the time. We don't hear about the millions of people living together peacefully because it doesn't make a good story. Most people here know that Islam is not evil nor are the people who follow it with good hearts. People like myself do not follow your religion, but we are doing what we can to defend it. Any religion or holy book can be twisted and used to hurt others. Many of us in the U.S. live and work with Muslims (particularly in big cities). It is possible for us to co-exist peacefully and most of us do. For my part, I believe the most important things are to acknowledge that we are all brothers and that our purpose is to make the world a better place for everyone. Beyond that, the details don't matter to me. I don't care what you call God/Allah, which holy book you use, or even if you believe there is no god. We can agree to live together in peace even if we disagree on these things. I don't always agree with my brother, but he is still my brother, so I respect him and treat him with kindness.
Part 3: I do not object to criticism of Islam or any religion as long as it is done with respect and good intentions, but it is clear this film was created to mock Islam and to anger people. It is unfortunate that it worked and the creator of the film is achieving his goal of making people angry and creating violence. Again, please accept my apologies for the offense caused by some of my fellow countrymen. Thank you for trying to understand us rather than judging us based on the actions of a few. Feel free to pass along my message to anyone you think should hear it. Please do not hesitate to contact me for any reason. Maybe some good can come out of this shameful video and we can come out of this with a better understanding of each other. We are not so different as it might seem. May we all find peace...""
