'Are you bored? Do you feel deprived or
frustrated? You must be a person without a Passion'
In our
daily lives, there come moments when we feel bored, when the hearts sinks and
we feel deprived, desperate and frustrated. All this Borusperation
(boredom+frustration+desperation) is inevitable while living in this world. We cannot
eliminate such "ailments". However, we can reduce them and that’s why the
degree of Borusperation varies among individuals.
Some among us are actually living every moment of their lives. They are
satisfied and happy and love their lives. They have Life in every moment they live !
There are few who are standing on the other side of the shore. They hate their
lives and feel depressed and bored quite frequently. These people are also living, but the moments they are living are without life !
Majority of
us lie somewhere in the middle of both extremes. We sometimes find ourselves loving our life
and sometimes we hate it. Sometimes we are enjoying it and sometimes we are
frustrated and bored. These kind of people are just living their lives.
To the best
of my intellectual abilities and thinking, what makes the difference is a 7
letter word called ‘Passion’. It is the presence of a passion in our life, and
the degree to which we actually follow it, which determines the amount of life in the moments we live. It is the passion for something which keeps us going, which is the
driving force in our life. It is this passion, which makes us love our lives. Some people call it goal, but i disagree with them. In my opinion, everyone of us has some goal in our life. It is the passion associated with that goal, which actually makes it more than just a goal. Secondly, this passion can be for anything, from activities like
music to our love for a person, it can be somebody’s passion for music to the
passion which Mother Teresa had for the betterment of humanity.
We all know
what our passion is, but somehow some of us forget it and some put it behind their
backs. For the ones who just put it behind their back, there is only one
suggestion. Guys, come on there is something just “behind your back” which can
make your life awesome, just take it and LIVE. Create your own world without fear. For the ones who forget it, the trick
is to do some soul search. I was recently reading a post on Facebook by a Pakistani
journalist named Aamir Khakwani. He mentions a small soul searching technique
for this purpose, which goes like this:
"Sit
in a quiet room and consider for a moment that you have died and people are
writing your gravestone. This is your final destination, the end of your life. Now
think, what do you want them to write on that? Whatever you wanted to be in
your life, you will choose the same to be written on the gravestone. Keep
thinking in the same way, choose 3 writings and then keep thinking over them
and finally choose one"
So the
simple, yet difficult, recipe for a wonderful charming life, without Borusperation,
is in finding our passion and then following it without fear. To be honest, i have not worked on it, but i have got the solution.
Wherever
you are, be a source of comfort and joy for the fellow creatures.
Peace be
upon you all
Dear Aamir,
ReplyDeleteI like on what you had written, like always. You always have different ways on seeing certain aspect of life.
Talking about passion, I do agree with you. Let me add some of my opinion. So,different level of passion leads to different level of Borusperation, yes.
Let me be my own case study (LOL). So I've passion towards singing. But the first question is, WHAT IS MY GOAL WITH THE PASSION I HAVE? My one and only goal is just to have fun. I don't have talent, and i don't even want to be a singer.
Second, WHAT IS THE LEVEL OF MY PASSION TOWARDS singing? I'll say 5/10. ( Even my mum will be disagreed, due to me continuously singing at home, she will rate me as 8/10). As the level of my passion is getting lower, the fun (GOAL) will go. The GOAL is not strong enough to make the level passion last. This is when BOREDOM step in our life.
Third question is, WHAT IS THE DRIVING FORCE TOWARDS MY PASSION? Well, for me the only driving force is because I love music. Do I have anyone to encourage me to sing and become a singer? NO. So the passion will be on and off.I do enjoy singing, but what make the enjoyment keep going? Nothing. Then frustration step in to accompany the boredom.
Lastly, HOW CAN I SATISFIED my passion? I sing continuously. At most, I'll go to Karaoke with my friend.
Try all these 4 questions to those who really love singing and want to be a singer, the level of their passion is high. They do live their life to the fullest. No room for boredom and frustration to step in.
But for me, my most passion is towards my study. So I'll answer different ways with my passion towards singing.
What I'm trying to say is, we need to identify our goal in life first then only the passion will come naturally. But take time to answer the 4 questions that I used to ask myself.
Dear Amy
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot for sharing your valuable thoughts. I always learn a new way of looking at the same thing from you.
I am very peculiar about the selection of words. In my opinion, the feeling you are referring to as your 'passion' for music is actually just an interest in music. This is clear from your level of "passion", which you explained in second question.
I posit that a passion will always have 10 / 10. Even 11/10. For passion nothing less than 10 is acceptable. When you have a passion towards something, you go to any extent to achieve it. The desire for passion is much much more than a simple interest. Your passion becomes integral part of you, without which you feel incomplete. your passion becomes a thirst, which asks for its own satisfaction. The passion will thrill you from within to do something extraordinary about it.
So in my opinion, your level of Interest in music might be high, but still it has not reached the level of Passion.
I know people, for whom their passion is their goal. So those are the people who live their lives fully.
In my opinion, find your passion then make goals accordingly. However, make sure whether you have passion or just an interest. If just an interest in something then i guess i agree with goal setting theory you wrote in your last lines.
Please keep sharing your valuable thoughts Amy. I am open to difference of opinion, and would look forward to your comment
Thanks
:O
